The state of North Carolina requires all Early Childhood programs to test their water for lead at any water source. All Verner Centers were tested in 2024:
  • Verner Central: Average level 0.10 ppb
  • Verner East: Average level 0.16 ppb
There is no safe level of lead in water for children. Verner practices safe water habits by:
  • Designating drinking faucets and non drinking faucets
  • Allowing water to run for 1-5 minutes when faucets have been inactive for an extended period.
  • Using cold water for food preparation
  • Regularly maintaining equipment to ensure safety
